ICI was contracted for 31 acres of site work, a 140,000 square foot ground up Walmart Supercenter and 1.5 miles of highway development as one of our earlier projects with the client. The site was contaminated by a concrete products manufacturing company. The manufacturer produced precast concrete and abandoned much of its discards on site. ICI’s preconstruction testing revealed the buried concrete structures throughout the site. To solve the issue, ICI set up a temporary concrete crushing plant to turn the abandoned structures and other excavated materials into suitable landfill. Over 19,221 cubic yards of suitable fill material were crushed and reused on site.
ICI also recycled 32.84 tons of wood and 10.68 tons of metal on the project. The new Walmart Store incorporates green areas and a retention pond. The scope of work also included constructing two pad sites for future development.
