North Palos SD 117: The Oak Ridge Elementary School Transformation
For several years, ICI has been working alongside North Palos School District 117 to make their long term vision for the District facilities a reality. In early 2014, North Palos School District 117 will present a transformed facility to the students and faculty of Oak Ridge Elementary School and ICI is proud to fill the role of Construction Manager during the course of the project.
The Oak Ridge Elementary School transformation consists of two phases of work; each delivered at separate milestones to coordinate with the District’s school calendar. The larger scope of work is a two-story, 16,000 square foot expansion onto the eastern portion of the existing school. In what marks ICI’s largest project with the District to date, the expansion will create space for 7 classrooms (divisible into 13 total), a state of the art media center, a workroom, storage areas and a new mechanical room. The project is currently underway and the connection to the existing school is targeted to take place over winter break 2013/2014.
Renovations to the existing school are also a significant portion of the construction project. Because students are returning to school the second week in August, meeting the targeted completion date is critical. Existing school renovations include the administrative areas within the building’s entry, a large multi-purpose room and two-story, 20’ expansion to accommodate a connecting kitchen, 6 classrooms, a new roof and new mechanical systems. Additionally, ICI completed minor upgrades at 6 of the District’s other schools this summer. ICI is wrapping up the final stages of these projects and is on target to meet the targeted completion date.
