In addition to the construction of two new schools (Plainfield CCSD 202 Wallin Oaks Elementary and Elmhurst CUSD 205 Lincoln School), ICI’s K-12 team will be working within three school districts this summer on a variety of renovations and life safety upgrades during the 10 weeks of school break.
For nearly 25 years, ICI has partnered with school districts on their summer life safety upgrades. Our K-12 team is seasoned at working alongside administrators and staff to carefully define their upcoming scope of work, create detailed construction cost estimates and bid documents, and identify long lead items so all construction is completed in time for students to return to school in late August as planned.
In total, our team will work within 20 district buildings this summer:
NEW LENOX SD 122
ICI has been SD 122’s construction manager since 2012. As soon as the working relationship began, ICI’s Vice President of Estimating collaborated with the District’s Business Manager, architect, and members of the Administration to create a long-term facility maintenance plan. The plan projected facility needs at each building within the District. The comprehensive document listed the improvement projects in terms of priority and cost and was adopted by the District Administration and Board. The working document has served as a budgetary and planning guideline for them every year since.
This summer, ICI will be working within seven school buildings within New Lenox. Our scope includes interior painting, parking lot and site repairs, and the resurfacing of tracks at the junior high schools.
ELMHURST CUSD 205
In addition to the major construction initiatives undertaken by District 205 at Edison Elementary School and Lincoln Elementary School, the District will also open a new Transition Center for the 2021-2022 school year through the renovation of an existing building. York High School will see improvements to the track and site drainage as well as HAVC upgrades to the Natatorium. Emerson School’s media center will also be renovated.
ADDISON SD 4
ICI will complete upgrades at all District 4 schools this summer, ranging in scope from site upgrades, to courtyard improvements, to District-wide door hardware replacement. Additionally, ICI will renovate the LRC at Lake Park and Lincoln Schools and the band room within Indian Trail School.
