Plainfield School District 202 is the fifth largest public school system in Illinois by enrollment, serving students from Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Joliet, Lockport, Naperville, Plainfield, Romeoville and unincorporated Will and Kendall counties. District 202 hired ICI through a competitive selection process in the summer of 2019.
The first major project ICI undertook as the District’s construction manager is a new 81,600 square foot, two-story elementary school. The new facility is the 18th elementary school within the District.
The school was built on a green-field site near downtown Plainfield. The facility is of similar design to the other schools built during the District’s heavy growth period in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The new school helps create enough space in all the District’s elementary schools to allow for full-day kindergarten. It also provides additional space for special education classes and districtwide programs. Construction began in the spring of 2020 and the new school was completed in time for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
