In continuation of ICI’s long-standing relationship with Benedictine University, ICI was contracted in early 2019 for a 22,400 square foot expansion and renovation to the University’s food services. Construction on the Krasa Dining Hall and Kindlon Café began in April 2019 and was completed in late summer 2019.
As Construction Manager, ICI participated in the upfront planning and project budgeting for the improvements. Project goals include enhancing the student experience, creating a student-focused space that also attracts faculty and staff and refresh the aesthetics of the existing space.
The Krasa Dining Hall renovation scope includes new front-of-house serving areas with market-style platforms and “display-style” cooking. Private booths and private dining room with presentation capabilities. The dining lounge finishes will be updated and include ground and sealed concrete, new carpet and LVT Flooring. The ceiling design offers a loft-type aesthetic as a portion of the roof structure will be exposed. The final element is new lighting throughout the serving and dining lounge.
