Elmwood Park CUSD 401 Elmwood Elementary School

For more than a decade ICI has fulfilled the role of construction manager for Elmwood Park CUSD 401. Over the course of the past 10+ years, ICI has worked in every school throughout the District on significant renovations, expansions and life safety improvements.

Beginning in 2022, ICI undertook the largest capital improvement program ever implemented by the District at Elmwood and John Mills Elementary Schools. These improvements were funded by a successful referendum. Construction costs at both schools total $45 million.

50,000 square feet of Elmwood Elementary were renovated during the summers of 2022 and 2023. The school was completely reconfigured to allow grade level collaboration for the first time. The HVAC system was replaced, all classrooms were renovated and toilet rooms were upgraded. Two additions house an elevator and new IT closets while improving egress and providing a new location for the heating and cooling plant. The existing courtyard was transformed from the central heating and cooling plant into a place of learning for the students.
