In February 2020, the Lincolnshire Prairie View School District 103 Board of Education approved the commencement of an $8 million renovation and expansion project at Daniel Wright Junior High School.
Daniel Wright Junior High was built in 1972 and serves grades 6-8. Enrollment has traditionally been approximately 685 students but is projected to increase to 769 students by the 2023-2024 school year. In anticipation of the projected growth and to provide students with a future-ready learning environment, the District is renovating and expanding the school.
Construction entails an 1,800 square foot classroom addition, a new STEM lab, Library Learning Center upgrades, a refresh to the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom, hallway/circulation improvements, a new secure school entrance and office and an improved fire suppression system.
Construction will begin in March 2020 in the vacated District 103 administrative office located adjacent to the junior high school. The administrative offices were relocated earlier this year to accommodate for the impending improvements. Construction on the school will begin once the 2020 summer break starts and is targeted for completion in August 2020.
