ICI completed a substantial addition and renovation to North Palos School District 117’s Sorrick Elementary School. The expansion houses a new Early Learning Center. Improvements were also made to the school’s 3.1 acre site including new utilities, water main, a detention pond and new bus access and drop off lanes for the school. In order to accommodate the District’s schedule, ICI managed construction of the 10-month project through the winter months. The 16,285 square foot single-story addition accommodated for new kindergarten and ELL classrooms, new reading rooms and a media center, along with a new Art and Music room, a new warehouse space and bathrooms.
Within the existing, 43,325 square foot school, ICI worked on life-safety and sprinkler upgrades. ICI worked closely with the District and design team to provide preconstruction budgeting services. Through project alternates and creative value engineering, the team provided a 500 foot long, two-lane parkway improvement to separate bus traffic from student drop off traffic, without increasing the original budget.
